What am I to do? If God does all this………

What happened to tooth for tooth? In the Mayflower book the invaders (Pilgrims, Puritans, French, Spain, Dutch, English and a few others) are using the old testament to justify killing and enslaving the natives. Many christian nations, groups, used selected Old Covenant rules, rituals, and practices to justify slavery, rape, wars, genocide and more. During the 60s-70s we were eyewitness to the hatred that can come from “Church people” towards people of another race or culture. We saw congregations split over the race issue when we invited all the children of the neighborhood to our summer school on a Church bus. Many people showed that evil is alive and well in the pews. We see cults today building temples and claiming high ranks in priesthoods drawn from the old covenants, The old covenants had many details , many explanations for everyday issues, like what to do if someone is injured in a fight. Or what town to run to if you accidentally killed another person, or how to plant and farm your land. How to destroy a town and all its inhabitants. Rules for land ownership and dietary rules. We pick and choose which rules fit our agenda. We need cash? break out the OT support of the priests, the temple & associated festivals, and the feeding of the poor. Tithing was 23% or more, giving was mandatory to every male head of household to present before the Lord and not have empty hands. Next time you do the tithe give it before the Lord. (where is He? Hint, he might be that bum you passed on the street or the child that is hungry, or mother that has no food for her children) Give the way Jesus taught. If you want to do that via a local ministry, shelter or homeless person, Give from the heart freely with out compulsion to the the less fortunate. Let the fans support the entertainment on game day. The Jewish male had a outward, if hidden sign of the covenant of Abraham. Female circumcision was never practiced by the nation of Israel, that is a pagan practice. Circumcision was a cutting off, showing mastery over the flesh. In the Ekklesia we have no distinction or seperation of male and female. All are now Abraham’s children in Christ. All serve as parts of the Ekklesia on equal terms as servants of the High Priest. Women teach and are evangelists, prophets as much as men all under the oversight leadership of the elders selected by the ekklesia

See Gal3:26-27, What is Paul talking about in “Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.” ? Does he mean the whole of the Law and all those mixed up rules from God?

Paul also said “Not with hands” Col 2:11-12, We put on Christ, what else do we need? Rules, rituals, temples, altars, reverends, titles, money, power, control? When we must, have to, make a rule or set up a ritual that we are required to follow that has the origin in the old covenants not repeated but fulfilled in the new final covenant we are saying Jesus is not enough, I must do this _________(fill in what they say you must do)

If Jesus is not the Alpha and the Omega of all creation then we are a people most sad. Jesus is my all in all. I need nothing more. What does Paul suggest for the Ekklesia to do? Corinthian letters are examples of direction from the apostle to the Church/Ekklesia/Body, not the building.

When we love as Jesus does we will move mountains and raise the dead. Work on that! John 6:29-36 the work of God.

What are the commands of God Paul speaks of? “keeping” sounds like a work. The Greek word he used is a word that means obeying, complying.

Does this mean we keep the old laws, old rules, rituals and paid fully supported, ranked in layers of power, controlling clergy? Why? To what end?

Will I need a lifetime plus to learn how? yes eternity!

artistic misconception of Jesus Medieval era

How many “One Anothers” did Jesus say as commands? “One another” is two words in English, but it’s only one word in Greek: ἀλλήλων (ah-LAY-loan). It’s used 100 times in 94 New Testament verses. 47 of those verses give instructions to the church, and 60% of those instructions come from Paul. See the “One Anothers” in the Word https://overviewbible.com/one-another-infographic/ If I take action on these?

Does “obey” mean that I must love God and my neighbor? What did Ananias think about before meeting Saul? Did he question God? Did he obey? What did Saul/Paul do? What was Saul complying to? Did Saul obey the commands of Jesus? How many times must God speak to be heard over the shouts of men?

Keeping the law vs the keeping the commandments of Jesus. John 14 has this from Jesus “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them,he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. “

This command pops up in Galatians here “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”  Link to Gal 5

Isaiah 50:10 Obey the servant. We have Jesus. Do we use the various old covenant items (rituals, traditions, rules) to patch up a mixed covenant religion? Is Jesus a fixit for Jews and the Temple? Or is Jesus the Alpha and Omega of everything? Here is a good understanding of the Law and Jesus by my friend Phil. No need for me to try do do this better. Phil is awesome in understanding of Grace

  1. Jesus not the Alpha and Omega of everything, but the Alpha and Omega of the new World which he prepared by putting his own will aside and doing the Will of God, giving his body as a ransom for the sins of all. Jesus is the second Adam, the first man of this new world of the newborn ones.; those who are under the grace of salvation by the blood of Christ.

    1. Not sure if I understand “Jesus not the Aand O” Could you provide scripture for that? I would not place Jesus in second place behind anything person or place. Please elaborate.

  2. Jesus is not the All-mighty God Who was and is and always shall be and therefore also an alpha and omega, though Jesus is the son of god and may be placed now higher than angels, his heavenly Father still and always shall be the Most High god above all gods.

You ask me to proof, with Bibleverses, something what is not said in the Bible, that Jesus would be the God and as such that alpha and omega. But because the bible never says such thing I can not give you such writing from Scripture. But you should see what Jesus and God tell about each other. That should give you a clear picture who is who and what. From those verses it is clear that there is Only One True God, the God of Israel, Who is an eternal Spirit (no man can see), whilst Jesus is the sent one from God who was seen by many.

“ And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live.” (Ex 33:20 ASV)

“ {1 } God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth. {1) Or God is spirit } (Joh 4:24 ASV)

“ yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.” (1Co 8:6 ASV)

“ And thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.” (De 8:6 ASV)

“ That they may know that {1 } thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, Art the Most High over all the earth. {1) Or thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art etc } (Ps 83:18 ASV)

“ Jesus saith to her, {1 } Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended unto the Father: but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God. {1) Or Take not hold on me } (Joh 20:17 ASV)

“ Blessed be {1 } the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, {1) Or God and the Father; See Ro 15:6 margin } (1Pe 1:3 ASV)

“ These things spake Jesus; and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that the son may glorify thee:” (Joh 17:1 ASV)

“ And this is life eternal, that they should know thee the only true God, and him whom thou didst send, even Jesus Christ.” (Joh 17:3 ASV)

“ And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, {1 } My God, my God, {2 } why hast thou forsaken me? {1) Ps 22:1. 2) Or why didst thou forsake me? } (Mr 15:34 ASV)

“27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. 28 ¶ Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe. 30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world cometh: and he hath nothing {1 } in me; {1) Or in me. But that…I do, arise etc }31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.” (Joh 14:27-31 ASV)

“5 Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a {1 } servant, {2 } being made in the likeness of men; {1) Gr bondservant 2) Gr becoming in }8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.” (Php 2:5-8 ASV)

“ But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” (1Co 11:3 ASV)

“ And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.” (1Co 15:28 ASV)

“17 ¶ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work. 18 For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only brake the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doeth, these the Son also doeth in like manner. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and greater works than these will he show him, that ye may marvel. 21 For as the Father raiseth the dead and giveth them life, even so the Son also giveth life to whom he will. 22 For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son; 23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life. 25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that {1 } hear shall live. {1) Or hearken }26 For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself: 27 and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man. 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice, 29 and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have {1 } done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment. {1) Or practised }30 I can of myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 31 ¶ If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. 32 It is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. 33 Ye have sent unto John, and he hath borne witness unto the truth. 34 But the witness which I receive is not from man: howbeit I say these things, that ye may be saved. 35 He was the lamp that burneth and shineth; and ye were willing to rejoice for a season in his light. 36 But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.” (Joh 5:17-36 ASV)

“30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found {1 } favor with God. {1) Or grace }31 And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob {1 } for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. {1) Gr unto the ages }34 And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also {1 } the holy thing which is begotten {2 } shall be called the Son of God. {1) Or that which is to be born shall be called holy, the Son of God 2) Some ancient authorities insert of thee } (Lu 1:30-35 ASV)

“21 Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. 23 And Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,” (Lu 3:21-23 ASV)

As you can see the bible tells us that Jesus is the beloved only begotten son of God. It is that what we do have to believe and that he is the firstborn of the new beginning, and as such the alpha and omega of that world.

“ No man hath seen God at any time; {1 } the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. {1) Many very ancient authorities read God only begotten } (Joh 1:18 ASV)

“ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (Joh 3:16 ASV)

“ Herein was the love of God manifested {1 } in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. {1) Or in our case } (1Jo 4:9 ASV)

“ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.” (Joh 5:24 ASV)

“ looking unto Jesus the {1 } author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. {1) Or captain } (Heb 12:2 ASV)

It was God and not Jesus Who said He is the alpha and omega:

“ I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, {1 } who is and who was and {2 } who is to come, the Almighty. {1) Or he who 2) Or who cometh } (Re 1:8 ASV)

“ And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.” (Re 21:6 ASV)

“ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Re 22:13 ASV)

    1. That is a lot of scripture. I will respectfully disagree with you. You have to trash a few verses to make all that work for you. If Jesus is not the Mighty God, Everlasting Father of Isaiah then He is not Jesus. We are all lost. What we decide about Him or God as far as names and ranks we must believe are foolish speculations. I do not agree with the creeds, rules, the theology that has come about since the first 125-150 yrs after the age of Apostles. I have to say as Thomas did “My Lord and my God!” and leave it at that. I know some of the cults believe as you seem to. I choose not to believe the “Trinity Doctrine” but I hesitate to place God or Jesus in a box and say things about theology we can only speculate. As Paul said” the very image of God” maybe that is all I need. Or the knowledge that pierced the heart when Peter spoke. I will obey that and as much as I can of the number one law Gal 5:14. I do not entertain mixed covenants. I can understand water, ice, and vapor but the 3 in 1 I can not explain, so I don’t try. You suit yourself. Semper Fi!
